How much is this going to cost?

Every guest is different, thus every hair journey is different as well as the final cost.  However no matter your desire, I will work with you and your beauty budget.  When you book with me the price associated with the service is a base price and can fluctuate based on your hair length, density, and hair history but that will be discussed and agreed upon by all parties before the hair experience begins.  If you would like a quote specifically for you then please complete a virtual consultation form.

What's lived-in color?

it's neither balayage nor ombrè, but I use a similar technique to hand paint color (highlights/lowlights) to blend with your natural color in such a way that it allows your haircolor to grow out still appear natural. It's similar to the no-makeup makeup look and is suitable for guests of all genders and hair types who want to freshen up their look, and add dimension, and luster without having to come to the salon every 8 weeks.  Most of my guests come every quarter for a touch-up, and once in between for a tonal gloss to control warmth, and add shine, and much-needed protein and moisture.

Why are you cutting my hair dry?

There's a way to get $30 off my service?

Yes!  Every time you refer a friend/colleague/or awesome family member to me you get $30 off any service.

New guests receive $20 off their first service.

If you're new to Houston, all your friends are bald, or everyone you know already loves who does their hair then you can get $30 off service with me when you leave me a review on Google, Yelp!, or Facebook and send me a screenshot.

What products should I use to protect my hair?

I long ago decided that it was not only ethical but in the best interest of my guests' health to only use and recommend vegan colors, shampoos, and styling products.  For my haircolor applications, I use Paul Mitchell and Pulp Riot and their styling products are some of my favorites to recommend to guests.  I do have a limited inventory in the salon, however, you can request that I have the product on hand for you to take home after your appointment to protect your beautiful tresses.

Another option is to have it delivered directly to your house.  Hairstory brand products not only maintain the health of your hair but support my mission to be sustainable when it comes to beauty products.  You can use the link below to take a hair quiz and find the right products for you.

Firstly when hair is cut dry (meaning clean, product-free, and air-dried) it will give your haircut movement and texture.  You'll also find it easier to style at home because I'm working with your hair rather than against its natural texture by wetting it.  You also get to see exactly how much I'm taking off, and we can discuss ways to either enhance or subdue the texture of your tresses.

I'll still give you an amazing shampoo experience as well as a diffused or traditional blowout with any haircut service.

This all sounds great, but how can I trust you?

You're a salon owner as well as a badass hairstylist?

Yes!  My salon is called The Spot and it's located in the historic Independence Heights area of Houston.

My hair bestie and I opened The Spot in December of 2021 because we wanted a place where stylists and guests alike would feel comfortable being themselves.  Basically, no haters are allowed.

All the stylists in the collective have their own independent businesses with their own pricing structure/hours/and specialties and we're all supportive of Black Lives Matter, the LGBTQAI+ community, and other women-owned local businesses.

For directions and information on parking at The Spot, a refurbished house that is the home of several businesses, you can click the link below.

The truth is that I'm not the right hairstylist for everyone, and often we can figure out if we'll be a good match during the virtual consultation where you tell me your needs and I give you several options on a hair journey for us to begin.

I've been working behind the chair since 2008, and while I've been trained in innovative cutting and coloring techniques throughout my career, the greatest lesson I've learned is, to be honest with my guests.  When you come to me with your pain points, and a vision of your dream hair I'm going to be upfront and honest about how to best address your troubles and how long it will take to get you your dream hair.

Once we both fully understand where we want to go, then we can work our way toward the fresh look that you're craving.  And if it turns out were not a good fit I work with several other stylists, and even have recommendations in the city of Houston and surrounding areas.
